Things to Do

Situated in the heart of the Cocagne region, in the centre of a triangle formed by Toulouse, Carcassonne and Albi, the Cottage is the ideal base to explore the many areas of interest of the South West region of France.

Within walking distance are two different forests and lakes to explore, and we have mountain bikes onsite if you want to go a little further a field.

Over 100 artisans and local producers come to the weekly market of Lavaur to sell an abundance of French delights. There is a rich array of local specialities including fois gras, confitures, purple garlic of Lautrec, local cheeses, duck, flowers and the spectacle of the local farmers selling their live ducks, geese, chickens and other birds as well as the eggs they lay.

Food & Drink

There are plenty of good restaurants of all levels to help you discover the many culinary delights of the region. There are also farmers markets and the vast wine region of Gaillac on the door step.

Sightseeing & Tourism

Forty minutes away is the city of Toulouse, known as the ‘Pink City’ because of the colour of brick from which it is built, with its many historical attractions.   Albi has its beautiful 13th Century Cathedral and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum is also a must do. Carcassonne, Cathar chateaux and Castres means you're spoilt for choice.

Being Sporty

Fifteen minutes away is one of the many golf courses within easy reach.  For runners there are numerous routes of all distances direct from the cottage and it's a dream environment for road bikes, making the cottage an ideal base for Triathlon training.
